Travel with me to Bali – Preparation!

In this first instalment of my series Travel with me – Bali I’m going to be telling you about all of our preparations! From who we are going with, to how long for, the cost and why! Bali is a small island in Indonesia that has become increasingly popular over the years! Famous for its forested volcanic mountains, rice paddies and beaches ! Bali is seriously going to be one of my most exciting holidays to date! Located in Asia it enables me to tick off my fifth continent leaving me with 2 to go!

How it started!

Way back in August last year, Jack and I began our discussions on the following years holidays. Jack wanted to go to Thailand and I threw Bali in there and being me – I obviously won! It was one of the easiest choices we had ever made as a couple! We had long before this however believed we would love to go inter-railing! However with all the planning that inter-railing required and the amount of time stuck on trains we decided that with the same amount of money we could go to Asia! And that was the end of our inter-railing debate and the beginning of Bali!

Who are we going with?

We searched online all about going to Bali. From what we could do to where we could stay and go. That’s when we stumbled upon Gap360 and I was set. It was a tour experience that covered all our activities and accommodation under one fixed price with some meals thrown in! This meant we could do all sorts of AMAZING things without having to source them ourselves or the travel there! They cover the cost of each activity we do, the travel around the surrounding island, the cost of the hotels, our travel from the airport and certain meals! I mean woah its insane! My favourite part is that with the tour we have the chance to tour around the island and neighbouring islands! The prospect of this was way WAY more appealing to me!

As this experience was in a group my family were way more into it too! Especially knowing there would be a guide who knew all about it too! Since they also had glowing recommendations and reviews I didn’t even feel the need to shop around different tours. They had me from the get go!

How long are we there for?

With most of our food covered, our accommodation and our activities all by the trip we just had to source the rest! Vaccines, flights, spending money, insurance, backpacks and hotels for before and after! We picked the 12 days intro to Bali experience (which in part 2 of this series informs you of our itinerary). This meant that we had 12 days in Bali but that just wasn’t enough so Gap360 helped us get cheaper accommodation for 5 days before our tour started and 1 night after! This means in total we are lucky enough to spend 17 nights in Bali!

The team from Gap360 were amazing throughout the entire tour purchasing process, they have a live chat that I used excessively! They ensure that you get your vaccines, insurance and have correct flights! They give you a log in to their site so that you can input all your details and get prepared! You even get to find out who is in your group in advance so you can begin to get to know the other travellers.

Cost!

So, this is the section I’m most nervous about, because hey I’m going to Bali I must be loaded! Wrong, this gal is on a student loan and sneaking into her overdraft! This trip took me years to save for and was way less expensive than I thought it would be initially. It ended up costing the same as inter-railing for a month! Vaccinations set me back around just over £200, flights around £600 and intro to Bali £800. There may be cheaper out there but BLAH BLAH BLAH not listening as I’ve already paid and I’m happy with what I’m getting for my money! Alongside this we have an extra £100 on our other accommodation and miscellanies things like our backpacks and mosquito repellant and £300 spending!

I am so incredibly excited to be able to go on a holiday like this and fund it all myself and I just cannot wait! In part 2 of Travel with me – Bali I shall be taking you through our entire itinerary for our trip, every lil detail of what is planned! This is in no way sponsored by Gap360, I’m just super impressed with their reviews and its literally just who we picked to go with! So far they have been incredible but we’ll see how the trip is once I get home!

I hope that this has been helpful to anyone who fancies going or is going or just if your nosey like me!
